Who it's for/For IT and digital suppliers

Tender software for IT and digital services

IT and digital suppliers win public sector work in two ways: through open tenders, and through government frameworks such as G-Cloud and Digital Outcomes and Specialists. To find the open tenders, search by the CPV codes for IT services and software, and watch for frameworks reopening so you can apply.

RevnIQ brings every UK and Ireland public sector tender that matches your services into one list, ranks each one by fit with a written reason, and drafts the response from your own past bids.

What the public sector buys

Public bodies buy software licences and cloud services, bespoke digital projects, technical specialists, support and managed services, and IT hardware. Councils, NHS trusts, universities and central government departments all buy regularly, from small one-off projects to multi-year managed services.

The main frameworks

A framework is a pre-approved list of suppliers that public bodies can buy from without running a full tender each time. Much central government IT is bought this way, so getting onto the right framework matters.

  • •G-Cloud, for cloud hosting, cloud software and cloud support. It's open to all public sector organisations and charities. G-Cloud 14 runs to 28 October 2026 and is being replaced by G-Cloud 15.
  • •Digital Outcomes and Specialists 7, for agile digital projects, delivery partners, individual digital specialists and user research. It started on 30 January 2026.

Both are run by the Government Commercial Agency, which replaced Crown Commercial Service on 1 April 2026. When a framework reopens, the opportunity to apply is published as a tender notice, so it should appear in your tender search.

Frequently asked questions

What CPV code is used for IT services?▼
72000000 covers IT services: consulting, software development, Internet and support. Narrower codes such as 72200000 (software programming and consultancy) and 72500000 (computer-related services) sit beneath it. Software packages use 48000000.
What is G-Cloud?▼
G-Cloud is a government framework for buying cloud hosting, cloud software and cloud support. G-Cloud 14 runs to 28 October 2026 and is being replaced by G-Cloud 15.
Do I need to be on a framework to win public sector IT work?▼
No. Many contracts are advertised as open tenders. But a lot of central government IT is bought through frameworks, so it's worth applying when the right one reopens.
